BECOMING A MEMBER/DIRECTOR/VOLUNTEER:
How do I become a member or a director?
Any person who is 18 years or older and lives or works in Scarborough.
Please call us for a membership or director's form which you
must complete.
Why become a member?
- Members will learn about legal problems faced by low-income
people
- Members will receive information about major changes to
the law affecting low-income people
- Members may qualify to be a Director
- Directors get experience managing a non-profit organization
- Directors can attend Board training workshops
- Members can attend the Annual General Meeting
- Members can vote on by-law changes
- Members can vote for Members to become Directors
West Scarborough Community Legal Services is a non-profit corporation
administered by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the
community. About 5-6 board members are elected each year from
our membership to oversee the administration and policies of
the clinic. The board guides the staff on issues of importance
